JOB SUMMARY – Open to Candidates in Ireland & UK
The Senior Software Developer helps bring our product concepts and designs to life. This individual will work on multidisciplinary teams, engaging with product owners, UX designers, software engineers, and QA analysts to deliver features and products that help our customers do their jobs better.
The candidate should be well-versed in software technologies, such as Java, Spring and other front-end frameworks. A keen eye for detail, creative thinking, exceptional problem-solving, and excellent communication skills are essential when working with our product team and fellow software engineers to bring product requirements to life.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and delivering scalable, high-quality features across our product suite, ensuring alignment with UX standards and performance best practices.
- Modernise existing Java based solutions against front end best practices, i.e JQuery to React.
- Collaborate with our front-end architect(s) and UX team to integrate solutions with our cloud native Accelerate platform with consistent user experience in mind.
- Completing delegated tasks, maintaining adherence to product roadmap schedule and sprint cadence
- Maintaining software development processes and provide code level support for client care issues
- Maintaining high level of product quality against requirements.
- Collaborate with our database software developers to ensure backend functionality maintains middle and frontend integrity
- Support QA analysts by tracking and addressing bugs during testing process
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager of Software Development and the VP of Technology
- Ability to project plan and prioritize resource allocation with minimal supervision.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or College Degree in Computer Science (or a related field)
- 8+ years’ experience as a software developer, ideally full stack with majority towards front-end development.
- Experience migrating legacy frontend applications from technologies like jQuery to modern frameworks such as React or Vue.js
- Parallel experience supporting older front ends as necessary in maintenance mode.
- Proven expertise in Java development, with strong proficiency in the Spring Framework.
- Skilled in building frontends that interact with integrated systems and APIs, ensuring seamless data flow and user experience across platform and solutions.
- Energy to, or experience developing in an AI native manner with copilot.
- Ability to debug and solve complex problems with minimal oversight
- Ability to work outside standard hours for special projects on occasion
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including product owners, UI/UX designers, software developers, and QA analysts
- Experience developing in modern microservices architecture
- Superb critical thinking and creative problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with handling authentication tokens, state management, and API orchestration on the client side
- Thought leader on evolution of front-end development practices.
- Working knowledge of build tools such as maven, gradle, NPM.
- Knowledge of SQL and other database technologies
- Attention to detail and excellent time management skills
- Flexible and able to work within established branding and product specs
VelocityEHS is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices by offering market-based salary ranges. The expected salary range for this position is between €69,000 – €89,000. We aim to hire between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range and offers at the maximum of the range are uncommon. The final offered salary will be based on candidate’s proficiency in skill set, prior relevant experience, internal equity, market considerations, and other factors. This role is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package.
