The Associate IT Security Engineer is a dynamic role responsible for fielding and monitoring network and security-related tickets while also assisting with compliance tasks. This role plays a pivotal role in protecting data and infrastructure. The Associate IT Security Engineer has responsibilities where they will work with people on technical and non-technical teams. This person will gain knowledge and experience with network, security engineering, data privacy, and compliance.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of security systems and tools.
- Participating in security incident response activities and investigations.
- Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses.
- Assisting with the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures.
- Providing support for compliance efforts by assisting in the implementation and maintenance of security compliance frameworks and standards (such as SOC2, PCI DSS, GDPR, etc.).
- Monitoring and analyzing security logs and alerts to identify potential threats or breaches.
- Assisting in the configuration and management of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security devices.
- Conducting security awareness training and promoting a culture of security within the organization.
- Collaborating with IT teams to ensure the secure configuration and maintenance of systems and networks.
- Assisting in compliance audits and assessments, including preparing documentation and evidence to demonstrate adherence to security controls and requirements.
- Staying updated on the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.
- Assisting in the maintenance and implementation of security compliance requirements and frameworks.
Minimum Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
- Basic networking and IT knowledge
- Adaptable and able to work independently or within a team
- A continuous learning mindset
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- CCNA
- Network experience
- Cloud infrastructure experience in either AWS or Microsoft Azure
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
