Greg Duncan, EHS & ESG Expert at VelocityEHS, will review the key elements of proactive, risk-based safety management, using the framework of the NIOSH initiative Prevention through Design (PtD) to reduce or eliminate risks at the source. The importance of a dynamic perspective that tracks risks and interactive exercises will also be discussed.

Session # 112: “The Silenced Epidemic: The Impact of Workplace Musculoskeletal Disorders on the Opioid Crisis”

There is a correlation between poor workplace ergonomics, jobs with high injury/illness rates, and opioid-related overdose death. Blake McGowan, CPE, Director of Ergonomics Research for VelocityEHS, will discuss how it is critical to implement workplace interventions to reduce hazards that lead to injuries for which opioids are prescribed.
