VelocityEHS talks about managing anxiety.

Video Transcript

One of the things I wish people understood about the life of an EHS professional, is how much worry we have.

We know the people in our workplace. We talk to them about their families, and about their plans for the weekend, and when someone doesn’t make it home safely, that weighs on us – a lot.

There were a lot of days that I had as an EHS manager that were good days, but there were also days that I went home to my kids, and I didn’t even feel present for them because I brought that worry home with me.

If that’s the position that you’re in, take a deep breath and take a step back.

Look at the ways that you’re managing your EHS information.

If you’re using multiple ways of accessing your EHS information, that could lead to inefficiency and that can possibly lead to anxiety.

There are better ways of improving your efficiency.

You don’t have to live with anxiety.

If your systems are adding to your stress, instead of reducing it – it’s time for a change.
