What is an Environmental Risk Assessment?
An environmental risk assessment — aspects and impacts — is used to determine the ways an organization’s activities affect the environment. The two terms, aspects and impacts, are directly related. An aspect is an activity that can impact the environment. It can be direct, like when a company emits into the air, or indirect, like when a company sources raw materials from a vendor that does not follow sustainable practices. An impact is the result of an aspect, like air pollution. An impact can be positive or negative.
