Participants delve into AI-driven solutions for ESG, environmental compliance, and green chemistry, making sustainability integration into corporate strategy seamless and imperative for success.

Track 3: Resilience

The Accelerate 2024 Resilience Track

This track is focused on future-proofing your organization’s ability to anticipate, withstand and bounce-back from adversity. Learn how to effectively manage risks, uphold regulatory compliance, and adeptly respond to unforeseen incidents.

As the adage goes, the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second-best time is now. The same holds true for resilience. Act now to set your organization up to prevail in the face of rapid change and formidable challenges.

Participants will join with certified experts in the fields ergonomics, human factors, contractor management, operational risk (and/or risk management) to explore resilience as it relates to staffing challenges, operational effectiveness, and the uninterrupted flow of critical processes.

Track 4: Strategic Gamechangers

The Accelerate 2024 Gamechanger Track

If you are responsible for strategy, making tough decisions, putting plans into action, and delivering results – or you are ready to be that person — this track puts you into conversation with other leaders who share your growth mindset, willingness to break patterns, and love for new learning.

Gain insights into current events, organizational agility and evolving people management skills to keep active as agent of change. Plus, explore strategies for effective communication with a wide-range of stakeholders, including front-line employees, engineers, legal, HR, purchasing, the board room and more.

1:00 PM to 3:30 PM

Process Owner Workshop (CEU eligible)

Built on the same concept as our successful Ergonomics Process Owner Workshops. In this hands-on, two-hour workshop, you will collaborate with VelocityEHS experts and fellow customers at roundtables focused on Safety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene, and Control of Work. These discussions will focus on best practices for program management as it relates to strategic objectives, goals, metrics, management support, and employee engagement.

Room 2

1:00 PM to 3:30 PM

Working Session: Hand-On Solutions Labs: Sharpening Your Skills

Drop in to learn more about the VelocityEHS solution of your choice. Come with your questions and computers, and our knowledgeable team will walk you through the process of accessing, entering, and reporting information. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the solutions you currently use and explore the capabilities of additional offerings. You have the flexibility to set the agenda for these discussions, with separate stations dedicated to each solution, ensuring you can focus on the specific details you need.

Room 3

1:00 PM to 2:00 PM

Session: Keeping Up with Recent GHS Rule-making: What You Need to Know (CEU eligible)

Explore the evolving landscape of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling (GHS) and its impact on chemical hazard communication worldwide. While the GHS successfully aligns with the goal of harmonizing global communication, national adaptations are causing divergence in regulations. This session delves into recent GHS-based updates in the US, Canada, and the EU, highlighting emerging trends and their potential effects on businesses.

2:30 PM to 3:30 PM

Workshop: Building Your Root Cause Analysis Skills (CEU eligible)

The most critical step in the continuous improvement/risk assessment process is to accurately identify the root causes of the problems you are experiencing. However, this is also the most frequently overlooked, undervalued, and underutilized information gathered during the Plan, Do, Check, Act process. High-quality root causes can be used to inform decision-making, maximize ROI, and illuminate previously undiscovered gaps in existing operations. Resilience requires a business to be able to prepare for potential difficulties in the future, in which case you can’t afford to keep repeating past mistakes, you need to challenge the status-quo and push for innovation.

Room 4

1:00 PM to 2:00 PM

Demystifying AI

With Artificial Intelligence in the popular news constantly lately, it is difficult to understand what it all means and to separate fact from fiction. Dr. Julia Penfield, VP of Research and Machine Learning will walk us through the history of Machine Learning and the facets of AI, what it all means, how you can interpret it, and how you can debunk falsely advertised “AI” features within software. This session also includes a brief update on the recent deployment of AI capabilities demoed at Accelerate 2023.

2:30 PM to 3:30 PM

Panel: Unlocking ROI: Lighting the Way to Data (CEU eligible)

Safety professionals are encouraged to speak the language of business and present the Return-on-Investment (ROI) to secure resources. While the ROI calculations are accessible from various sources, the challenge for many safety professionals lies in discerning the valuable data for ROI and knowing where to gather that information. This session will clarify which data is essential and provide a path on where to locate it.

Room 5

1:00 PM to 2:00 PM

In the face of the anti-woke backlash reported in the news, establishing a company DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) program can bring tangible benefits for both your employees and your bottom line, provided it’s done right. Join this session to explore the initial steps in launching your DEI journey, understanding your employees’ concerns, and fostering inclusivity without shame. The presenter will emphasize the value of these initiatives, connecting them to improved business outcomes, and underscore why cultivating a diverse and inclusive organization is a mutually beneficial strategy for you, your employees, and your organization.

This interactive session, led by VelocityEHS subject matter experts, will guide you in building an effective team, covering a spectrum of issues. Resilience Track

A one-size-fits-all approach is rarely effective in risk management. Tactics should be adapted based on the maturity of your process and the types of risks you are addressing. 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM

Roundtable: Communicating the Value to Stakeholders (CEU eligible)

Many EHS professionals find it challenging to secure the necessary budget and headcount to make progress toward their EHS or sustainability goals. Their motivation starts with maintaining the safety of their workers, improving their community, or protecting the planet. While they know that return on investment is a crucial driver for the organization, they are often laser-focused on the people side, making it difficult to get buy-in for their EHS and ESG initiatives. During this session, we’ll share strategies and best practices for communicating in the stakeholders’ language.

4:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Networking: EmpowerHER Leadership: Shaping Your Organization’s Future
