The Implementation Specialist is required to review and understand customer requirements collected by VelocityEHS Business Analysts and configure VelocityEHS systems to meet those requirements. They are also involved in post-implementation support with the potential for in-depth troubleshooting and issue resolution within a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. The candidate would benefit from having knowledge in software technologies, such as JavaScript, VB.Net, XML, and Microsoft SQL. A keen eye for detail, creative thinking, and exceptional problem-solving are essential when working with our customers and fellow coworkers to bring customer requirements to life.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Working knowledge in VelocityEHS products and solutions
  • Configure new and existing systems based on customer business requirements
  • Handle internal and external technical support requests and issues relating to implementations
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve system issues
  • Recognize areas for system tuning/improvements and provide recommendations
  • Authoring of clear and reproducible bug reports for the product department
  • Assist with troubleshooting and fixing defects with the product
  • Assist with designing, planning, and analyzing code-based customizations (such as notifications, webparts, reports, components/fields, and search filters)
  • Develop pre-designed code-based customizations
  • Review needs and solutions documentation and provide estimates for configurations unsupervised
  • Communicating with customers regarding technical details/troubleshooting (SSO setup, technical requirement explanations etc..)
  • Use internal tooling (where appropriate) to complete tasks
  • Assist with developing internal tools (add new features, modify, maintain, and improve existing features)
  • Maintain the IT system inventory through regular backups, upgrades, and deployments
  • Champion VelocityEHS IT system best practises and policies, work in this area for continuous improvement
  • Drive improvement in quality and demonstrate understanding/interest in emerging technologies and trends

Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Programming, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3-5 years experience working with networking systems and principles
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Enthusiastic and able to learn quickly
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Works well with other team members as well as independently
  • Updating Project Managers and teammates with the necessary information to achieve end goals
  • Good time management skills are an asset
  • Being able to work with a sense of urgency and utmost care due to having access to live production data • Recognizing the necessity of adhering to deadlines
  • Must have experience working with and manipulating large datasets in Microsoft Excel
  • Must have experience working with SQL databases and XML
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Databases
  • Must be able to write SQL queries/scripts from scratch
  • Must have experience in Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Must have experience using email systems including Outlook 2016+
  • Knowledge of Software Testing
  • General Programming Skills
  • Able to perform off work hours when needed and willing to travel worldwide for implementation sessions/installs (infrequent)

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Exposure and basic understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Knowledge of JavaScript

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write supporting technical documentation
